Faithful to the Scriptures, True to the Reformed Faith, and Obedient to the Great Commission

History

Harvestwood Covenant Presbyterian Church started in 1984 as a mission of the former New River Presbytery, now the Blue Ridge Presbytery, of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

First gathering in the nearby home of Rev. Riley W. Ware in March of 1984, the growing Harvestwood fellowship of believers met in a single-wide from April 1985 until our beautiful, present building was opened for worship on July 21, 1991.

God has always provided preaching and pastoral care for His flock here.  Church Planter Rev. Riley Ware became the first Pastor of the Harvestwood congregation when it particularized on August 27, 1989.  Pastor Ware served faithfully and fruitfully, retiring honorably in January 2005.

We received our second Pastor, Rev. Theo van Blerk, in September 2008, when he, his wife Lydia, and their family came to live in the town of Floyd.  Pastor Theo blessed the congregation and glorified God through his ministry among us, as he lovingly served Harvestwood until November 2019.

Today, Dr. Duncan Rankin is our Stated Supply Pastor, and his wife Shirley and mother Susan are also members of the Harvestwood congregation.  We are now part of the consolidated Blue Ridge Presbytery of the PCA, with sister churches up and down the Shenandoah, Roanoke, and New River Valleys, as well as east to Lynchburg and beyond.
