About our Worship

The worship services at Harvestwood Covenant Presbyterian church are God-centered and not man-centered. We believe that God prescribes to us how to worship Him, and thus we must worship Him in a way that pleases God. We believe a worship service to be an appointment between the Covenant God with His Covenant people. We believe that in that meeting God speaks to us and work faith in us through the reading and preaching of His Word. We believe He strengthens our faith through the celebration of the Sacraments (the Lord’s Supper and Baptism). We celebrate the Lord’s Supper on a weekly basis. We believe that we answer our God and we respond with our prayers, confessions and singing.

The preaching at Harvestwood is biblical and expository preaching. Too often only certain parts of the Word of God are preached. Preaching also often ignores the biblical context and history and rushes only to make applications. In an effort to avoid these modern tendencies in preaching we believe expository preaching to be beneficial because it forces not only the pastor but also the congregation to study through the whole counsel of the Word  of God in a systematic way.

We continue to pray that our worship as a congregation will always be the climax of our week, and as we meet as a church family with our God, we strive do so  with reverence and joy, yet coming with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace (Hebrews 4:16) not because of any merit we present to God, but alone on the merits of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
